I posted a song to the music player on my page. It is mislabled as "Be Thou My Vision". Does anyone really know what the name of it is? I think it has something to do with the Civil War. Either an actual Civil War tune or perhaps some music from a Civil War movie.

Please have a listen. If you can identify the song I would be so thrilled!

I have no idea where it came from, Thirsty. Maybe it is a version of it. What if I put up a verified version and they can be compared.

I think dh got the music file in a bunch of unlabled music from a friend. We identified all we could, but this one is a mystery. You may be onto something that it is actually a version of "Be Thou My Vision." I have to listen for it.

I've listened to it and I think it is a version of "Be Thou My Vision" but I'm not an expert. I went to Wikipedia and looked up more info on the song. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_Thou_My_Vision It is a very old song, so it could have been played during the Civil War, and it could have been adapted for a movie as well. Have you tried singing the lyrics with it and see if it fits? I'm not familiar with it enough to judge for myself.

Where did you come across the music file? Are there any clues there, who did it, etc? Can you research back and find out more that way?
