Good advice to remember. Sometimes we forget how important our families are.

I teach my kids this truth. I tell them they should treat their family members better than they treat strangers. I try to impress on them that their family will always be there for them, and friends may come and go. We can feel like they have to stay no matter how we treat them, but I try to get them to appreciate each other and treat them with respect and love. I have 10 children and I'm trying to teach them how to build good relationships here in our home before they go "out there" and start relationships with others from other backgrounds. It's not perfect, but it's the mark we're shooting for.

Love,
Penney

Is that possible? isn't the mere fact that they reside in your home make them the status quo? We treat other people better because we don't have to live with them. Maybe we want to impress them? I want to treat my family as special, yes, but we live "real" life. Inviting people over and making dinner for guests is pretty much the same as making dinner for my family, but the change of fellowship makes it unusual, special. I don't think there's any way to change that.
