Good advice to remember. Sometimes we forget how important our families are.

Yes, we hatch keets (guineas, which these are), chicks and a few ducklings every year. I'm a confessed hatchaholic, just can't resist that sense of sweet new babies and something for nothing ;)

I'm excited to be here!! Well, its NOT winter until 12/21, but it IS 27 degrees with a light dusting of snow around the edges. Not supposed to be above 45 all week. Typical for November in Iowa, but too cold for a camper! I'm really excited to get my own computer hooked back up so I can watch your videos. Mark's work computer won't let me do anything dangerous like that :o)

Thanks Terri! You know I met you in person several years ago in DSM at First Federated. You have been dear to my heart ever since. I watched on the news when you got the Golden Apple award for best teacher! I am a fan :D.

Anyway, now I am busy with work at home, and kids at home and even hubby is home til NOON every day! LOL.

It is neat how God makes it all work when we get out of the way.

Twelve Step Program for the Stressed-Out Mom

Today, while talking in a chat room with Karen, she gave me the idea for this column. You see, Karen was having a bad day. It was the first day back to "school" with her boys and things were not going according to plan. The children were fighting, not really wanting to do their work, and Karen was having a difficult time dealing with it all. She ventured into a homeschool chat room hoping to get some help for her struggles.

My advice to Karen was to yell at her children to "KNOCKITOFF!"

Freedom From Fear

I'm really glad confidence is not a prerequisite when setting out on the new journey of home schooling. If it were, few families would take the plunge.

Almost everyone I have talked to began their home schooling journey wondering why God would call them to do something that terrified them so much. It didn't help that most of their relatives, friends, and fellow church members doubted they could pull it off. I'm sure we had relatives wh… Continue

DRESSES, JUMPERS, JEANS, OR SWEATS?

This was one of my very popular posts for homeschoolers. I thought I would share it here.

by Terri Camp

Struggles, struggles, struggles! Forever I am struggling with the same unimportant issues. How should I fix my hair? How much makeup is ?acceptable?? Do I have to wear dresses?

Some of my friends say it is wrong for a woman to cut her hair. Other friends tell me it is wrong for a woman to braid her hair. Other friends say a woman must cover her hair. I know people who believe women should d… Continue
